Sarah Knox, PhD

Dr. Knox is a professor in the UCSF School of Dentistry’s Department of Cell and Tissue Biology. Her current research focuses on deciphering the mechanisms that control salivary-gland architecture during development and regeneration after injury and aging, with an emphasis on identifying neural molecules that maintain and promote tissue health. She is the immediate past president of the Salivary Research Group, a member group of the International Association for Dental Research, and was co-chair of the 2019 Salivary Gland and Exocrine Biology Gordon Research Conference. Dr. Knox earned her PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, before pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship at the US National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.
